King Lekan Ajala
Born and raised in Nigeria, Olalekan Ajalaagbo also known as KING LEKAN moved from Nigeria to New York City to further his education and music career. In NYC, Lekan was one of the founders of an alternative Hip-Hop trio music group called “OMG!”. The trio collaborated and produced an album titled The Fingerprint Experience. The album gained national recognition that resulted in the group opening for American rapper Pharrell Williams; this was when Lekan knew that He had a good opportunity to flourish in the Music Industry in the United States.
In early 2012, Lekan started a music production company called The Music Geekz (TMG). TMG released their first collaboration beats mixtape titled TMG Beats Vol. 1. Soon after the release, Lekan caught the attention of Missy Elliott’s “The Road to Stardom” winner Jessica Betts, which gave him the opportunity to work in the studio and go on tour with the star. Furthermore, Lekan has had the opportunity of performing for various celebrities, including philosopher Deepak Chopra at his mansion in San Francisco. In addition, Lekan has toured the United States twice with British Soul/R&B artist, Daley & American singer/songwriter Travis McClung on various occasions.
In the African Music industry, Lekan has had the opportunity to perform alongside Nigerian superstar artists; Mr. Eazi at various venues in the United States including the James Corden Show on CBS, Haiti, and The O2 Arena in London. Lekan has also performed with Wizkid at Irving Plaza in NYC, Davido for his “30 Billion” Tour, Olamide for his North American Tour, Adekunle Gold at various performances in the United States, Praiz & Stonebwoy at the first ever One Africa Concert at the Barclays Center and many more. In addition, Lekan has also performed alongside African legendary artist & humanitarian, Angelique Kidjo. In the gospel world, Lekan has shared the stage with gospel legends such as Ron Kenoly, Alvin Slaughter, Don Moen, Sinach, Sonnie Badu, Uche and many more.
Currently, Lekan works as the band music director/piano player for a church in New York City and also the Music Director for his Afrobeats band, KINGSMEN. Lekan also finds the time to tour with various local musicians and produce various artists in his home studio.
Lekan is also currently working on his Afro-Jazz Fusion instrumental project set to be released Summer 2019.
