Leeland D. Thompson, born in Memphis, Tennessee and a longtime Mississippi resident, is a professional lead and bass guitarist who began playing at age 8 and professionally at 18. He currently serves as lead guitarist for John P. Kee & New Life Community Choir, Darrel Petties & Take 2, and Olivet Fellowship Baptist Church, “The Place of the Outpouring.”
Throughout his career, Leeland has performed and recorded with numerous local and national gospel, R&B, and recording artists, He has also performed with various artist such as Kurt Carr, Anita Wilson, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark-Sheard, Yolanda Adams, Ledisi, LeAndria Johnson, and many others.
Leeland is endorsed by PRS Guitars, Gruv Gear, Juicy Ears, and Alclair. He is also the recipient of the 2023 Golden Triangle Award for Male Musician of the Year.
When not touring, Leeland offers opportunities for musicians to learn from his experience through teaching, consultation, and professional services.
