Yiannis Papadopoulos was born on 5th April 1984 in Athens, Greece. Growing up in a family of musicians, guitar was the toy that caught his attention and became eventually his passion in life. At the early age of 4 he started taking guitar lessons from his father and at the age of 7 he enrolled in a conservatory and started his “official” practice. After a few years he got his Degree in classical guitar and classical harmony – with honors in both, while at the same time he finished his studies at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB - degree in Accounting and Finance).
His rock/metal influences led him soon to dig deep into the rock/fusion territory-which is his main area of interest and expertise-and after many years of self-tuition, lessons and clinics he developed his style of playing, based on rock/fusion concepts.
Having in mind that the only limitation in art is imagination, he constantly strives to broaden his musical style and sound, always searching for new musical paths and ways of approaching guitar playing. His passion and hard work grew his reputation as a guitar teacher and since 2002, he has been teaching guitar in many conservatories, having students from Greece and all over the world.
Throughout the years Yiannis has worked as a session musician in several bands, playing at the most famous clubs in Greece and making TV appearances in various Greek shows and events. Moreover, he has participated in many recordings by Greek and International artists as a guest musician.
In April 2012 he became a member of Goin Through The Band, a very famous mainstream Greek band, with which he is touring Greece, participating in huge events.
He frequently joins worldwide guitar contests and he has won quite a few of them, i.e. the Ibanez Guitar Solo Competition 2013 where he won the 1st place - (Winner out of 311 contestants): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMT29p3BSw8

At present he divides his time between recording my personal instrumental cd, rehearsing/ playing live with Goin Through The Band, and teaching students from Greece and all over the world via Skype.
