Ryan Siew, 16, is an Australian guitarist who has astounded many in the contemporary metal scene with his YouTube covers of technical songs by prominent bands such as Periphery, Killswitch Engage and Protest the Hero. Ryan has been involved in music from a very early age. Since Ryan first picked up guitar at age 11, he quickly developed his skills through learning music by ear and performing in front of family and friends. From the humble beginnings of playing Pop-Rock, he has since branched out to play an eclectic mix of Jazz, Progressive Metal and everything in between.
Ryan has shown great potential as a budding talent from a young age. This compounded with his determination to achieve a higher standard with every song he plays, both in terms of accuracy and production value, allows him to constantly challenge himself to grow as a guitar player, songwriter and as a musician.
His presence in the musical field has been gaining significant attention, with videos now being shared worldwide. Ryan often receives praise from the artists whom he had covered, as well as from music companies and music blogs. Ryan's ambition to become a full time musician has gained him offers from international companies such as Mayones Guitars, Bare Knuckle Pickups, Gruv Gear, and Sunken Clothing, products which he proudly endorses.
Not content with being just a cover artist, Ryan is determined to continue with his own compositions. Ryan is currently offering teasers online for a solo EP slated for release in late 2014. Ryan continues to perform guest solos and help compose for various records. Furthermore, Ryan has joined an active Australian metal band ‘Polaris’, releasing their debut EP "Dichotomy" on November 29, 2013 to high acclaim. Ryan also offers lessons in person and via Skype, allowing him to share his own knowledge with other aspiring musicians to an online community young and old on an international stage.
