He is a man of few words, but when in his element, Timothy Bailey, Jr is capable of having a full musical conversation with anyone. This accomplished musician and producer picked up the drums at three, violin at eleven, viola at thirteen, and marching and orchestral percussion at fourteen. But at fifteen, the young music enthusiast found a special love for the electric bass.
The Kansas City native studied his craft on both sides of the state line, as well as in Louisville, KY, and Los Angeles, CA, where he now resides. In his nearly two decades of playing professionally, he’s been called upon to accompany the likes of Natalie Cole, Chrisette Michelle, Howard Hewett, Richard Smallwood, Israel Houghton, Big Sean, 2 Chainz, DJ Quik, Billy Davis and Marlyn McCoo, and Jamie Foxx, just to name a few.
Timothy's ability to lay a solid foundation has gained the trust of artists like Ariana Grande, Lalah Hathaway, Ruben Studdard, Charice, Judith Hill, Deborah Cox, El Debarge, Chris Brown, and Tyrese, all of whom he's toured with. His mild yet professional demeanor on stage have landed him in front of many television cameras. Among those frequent appearances on TV are Good Day LA, The Ellen Degeneres Show, The Windy Williams Show, The Arsenio Hall Show, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, the American Music Awards and Saturday Night Live.
Lately, Timothy has been called upon by producers and record executives like Jeff Webber, Aaron Lindsey and JR Hutson to provide his magic in the studio. His bass lines can also be heard on projects by Jill Scott, Jackiem Joyner, Hidden Beach’s Unwrapped Series, and countless other projects on independent and major labels.
