Jonathan Lee Johnson started playing bass at age 21. Being from New Orleans and with two older siblings that played from young, Joe and Joshua, he was constantly exposed to music of different genres growing up. Chasing his musical muses at 22 he dedicated himself full time to music.
While playing in church Jonathan developed his own style by studying various bassists. Eventually getting the privilege to perform with gospel artists like Jonathan Nelson, Jaklen Carr, William Murphy and Myron Butler.
Over the last few years, stretching to other genres and working with musical titans such as Robert Glasper and Musiq; Jonathan pushed his passion for music to new levels.
Jonathan is now touring internationally with Tank and the Bangas, 2017 NPR Tiny desk winners. Who just released a new album called “Green Balloons.”
“It’s been nothing short of a blessing. I just pray to keep growing on my musical journey.”
