Randall Kertz is a chiropractic physician, acupuncturist, educator, author, and bassist in private practice in suburban Chicago, Il.. He treats many local, national, and international musicians of all playing styles in his office and on tour, and has lectured on the subject of musician’s injuries and health education worldwide. He has also been a tour manager and has performed many other roles in and around the music business for over thirty years.
Randall attended the Bass Institute of Technology in 1989, worked in the music industry for the next several years in various capacities, and became a physician in 1999. His book, ‘The Bassist’s Guide to Injury Management, Prevention and Better Health’ was first published in 2005, and is now available in it’s second edition. He is currently working on a comprehensive guide to musician related injuries for all instrument families, as well as being involved in other health education projects geared towards musicians. Current music projects include the bands The Insignificant Others, with whom he has recorded one cd, and The Lonesome Stranglers, as well as various solo and sideman pursuits.
Dr. Kertz founded Musician’s Health Resources in 2009, a company dedicated to providing multiple platform health education for musicians.
