The Extra Long Tail Strap is not optional unless you are 5' tall or less, or want to have your instrument body at shoulder height. It should be included with the strap, especially the $180 Duo Strap.

Just get the extra long version

So I purchased the regular sized John Patitucci signature strap and it fit well when using it for my Fender jazz bass but if you wanna use it for a 335 style guitar, you'll might it too short.

So just get the XL version and you won't have to buy this extension. Other than that I really love the comfort these straps provide!

The Extra Long Tail for Neo Straps (Vegan) was just what I needed to get my bass in a more comfortable playing position and relieve tension in my shoulders. Definitely worth it even just to get an extra notch or two!

It's a shame that it was needed to purchase it. The original strap is so small that it holds my guitar around my tits.
So while this produce, the extension does what it should, I think, it's a shame that the original, not very cheap strap is waaay too short.
