Orange County, California (September 13, 2019) – California-based music accessories manufacturer Gruv Gear is proud to announce the first of its Artist Series FretWraps with guitarist and frontman Matt Kiichi Heafy (MKH) of the Grammy-nominated metal band Trivium. Based on Gruv Gear's ubiquitous FretWraps String Muters, this exclusive model features Matt’s “Kiichi” logo in kanji (Japanese writing) and a unique red & black color scheme. The new MKH Signature models also come with a full-color custom packaging as collectible for Trivium fans.
Matt shares, “Before Gruv Gear FretWraps - in the studio - I’d scramble to find a long sock, or panty hose, or multiple thick hair ties to cut that irritating high pitch subtle resonation that is inevitably ever-present in tightly cut-off guitar parts. During solos, we’d tie said sock even higher up on the fret board to get the solos to cut any incidental noise.
When Corey Beaulieu first introduced me to the FretWraps, I couldn’t believe how it cut all the unwanted noise, tightened my playing up, and looked pretty damn sleek.
I have been using the wraps live and in studio for years now, and when Gruv approached me on the possibility of a signature wrap - I was honored. Jay and I honed I’m on a perfect modern and minimal design that kept the integrity of the FretWrap, and added in that slight Kiichi-flavor.
I love these wraps.”
Jay Baldemor, President of Gruv Gear and inventor of FretWraps, adds, “Matt and the whole Trivium crew have been amazing artists of ours for the last few years, and this new collaboration with the Matt Heafy Signature FretWraps is a great step to building our brands together. We both have a global platform and it’s a privilege to team up with such a phenomenal artist!”
